Yellowing auto lenses are not only unsightly to look at, but they make it difficult to see as well. Dull and faded headlights can reduce visibility by up to 80%. The lenses of headlights are made of a poly carbonate plastic. This plastic is impact resistant, but is very UV sensitive, and over time the UV coating from the factory breaks down, no longer protecting the plastic lens. This causes the lens to become discolored and turn yellow over prolonged periods of sun exposure.
